Postpartum Doula Care

"It Takes a Village."

Have you heard the saying, "It takes a village" ?

As a seasoned mother, no other statement speaks more truth.

Are you a new or expectant mother who is concerned with how you're going to handle new motherhood and self-care after you give birth?

We need a village!

Comprehensive Support

After giving birth, modern culture seemingly forgets about the needs of new mothers and their families. We live more isolated now than ever before, and this isolation has amplified the need for comprehensive support through the perinatal period.

The changes are real.

Physical & Emotional Support

Your body undergoes many significant changes during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. And these changes require both physical and emotional support. But too often, this type of necessary care isn’t prioritized the way it should be.

New moms need care too!

Planning for Postpartum

The focus tends to be on birth and the new baby. The importance of planning for postpartum is largely forgotten. Which includes overlooking care for the new mother.

Do you need a postpartum doula?

Postpartum doulas have the skills, education, and training to guide you through the newborn phase and beyond. They can help you in a variety of areas including infant feeding—breast or bottle—swaddling, bathing, infant soothing techniques, and safe sleep solutions.

While all families would benefit from extra postpartum support, here are some helpful guidelines to consider when deciding if this is the right fit for you.

  • Are you looking for guidance on planning for postpartum before your baby is born?

The first 3 months after a baby is born is known as the fourth trimester. This knowledge can help you plan and prepare for the first few months after you give birth. We can create a postpartum care plan tailored uniquely to the needs of your family.

  • Do you sense that you will benefit from an extra safety net of support postpartum?

Building a solid support system is essential during the fourth trimester for postpartum family wellness. Not only is the birth of your baby important, but the care you receive postpartum is equally important. Not everyone has a safety net of help, but with a doula by your side, you will have more of the support you need.

  • Concerned about how you’ll rest and recover while caring for your baby?

Some families are fortunate to receive help from their extended family and community. Yet for many, the village that’s needed isn’t there. Having an experienced doula by your side can help reduce the stress of having to manage everything.

A postpartum doula can help care for your baby during a nap or doctor's appointment so you can have an easier recovery. As your doula, I will ensure you’re well-rested, fed, and hydrated while providing in-home care.

A MESSAGE FROM KRISTIN:

Many families are completely unaware of what the fourth trimester requires. Families don’t realize how deeply they will transform during this time.

And the solution can be as simple as having a supportive caring hand to help you navigate through this new life transition. This is the value that a postpartum doula can provide.

Postpartum doulas are knowledgeable professionals that provide the support you need for a smooth transition by helping you rest, recover, and bond with your baby.

In our work together as your postpartum doula I focus on “Mothering the Mother.” Every new mother has individualized needs. I tune into your specific needs to help you thrive.

During pregnancy, we can begin our relationship by planning for your fourth trimester before your baby is born.

After you give birth, I focus on supporting your physical, emotional, and informational needs. I will help guide your family through this new transition.

How can I help you?
